On Thursday, July 17th, we held an evening cool down party. Approximately 190 people gathered, including ANIC Japanese language learners and students from Japanese language schools.
At this year’s evening cool down party, we were taught the Awa Odori by members of the Warakuren, who are active in the “Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori.” While many people watched the Awa Odori for the first time, everyone was quickly captivated by the light-hearted rhythm and dynamic movements, and some people danced many times. In addition to learning how to dance, we also learned the chants of “Yattosa” and “Yatto Yatto.”
We enjoyed bowling, super ball, masks, cheap sweets, mini boccia, fishing for lucky dip, ball tossing, balloon art, and more.
The event was very popular with all who attended, with the well-known Crouton Nakano making an appearance and being interviewed by high school volunteer students from Toa Gakuen, where many students volunteer.
Thanks to the cooperation of many volunteers, it was a lively time where people could experience the atmosphere of a Japanese summer.
