American home cooking class was held

On Friday 30th May, we held an American Home Cooking Workshop at the Nakano Ward Welfare Center for the Disabled.

The instructor was Mr. Hon Gordon from California, USA. Under her careful guidance, the participants cooked three dishes together: chili con carne, coleslaw, and cornbread.

From the participants,

Comments included, “The teacher’s explanations were very easy to understand,” “I was able to adjust the spiciness to my taste and it was delicious,” and “It was easy to make and very tasty.”

The key to making chili con carne is to use lean ground meat and not to burn the spices. Everyone seemed very satisfied with Mr. Hon Gordon’s authentic yet easy to make recipe for home cooking.
