High School Entrance Information Session in Easy Japanese
On 3rd November (public holiday), we co-hosted a high school entrance information session for parents and children whose native language is not Japanese, in collaboration with the NPO Multicultural Children’s Independence Support Centre. Approximately 50 people attended.
We explained the structure of metropolitan high schools, metropolitan high schools with quotas for foreign residents in Tokyo, the eligibility checks for applying to these quotas, and special measures for the general entrance examinations of metropolitan high schools, all in Easy Japanese.
Eleven interpreters assisted, covering Nepali, Chinese, and Vietnamese. Five former ANIC students who had studied Japanese and successfully taken the high school entrance exams also came to support. It is truly great to see alumni contributing in this way.
For families from abroad, understanding the high school entrance exam system and selecting the right school from the many available options is no easy task. We hope they will continue to work hard in their daily Japanese studies so they can move forward to the direction they desire.
