From March 29 (Wed.) to April 5 (Fri.), a spring holiday children’s class was held and 37 primary and junior high school students studied Japanese. Some of the children looked anxious on the first day because they had just arrived in Japan, but they took their studies seriously.

On the last day, the volunteers and the children held a “Congratulations on moving on to the next grade” party and the children spoke one word each on about their impressions of the class. There were also three primary and junior high school students who had completed ANIC’s textbook “Kodomo no Nihongo” (34 lessons in all) during this spring holiday, and they presented their essays.

They said, “I was able to finish the book because I went to ANIC and worked hard, even on rainy and hot days.” “The Japanese honorifics were especially difficult, but I thought about it a lot and did my best.” “I was surprised at the amount of homework at school, the cleanliness of the city, and the kindness of the people in Japan.”

A total of 122 Japanese language volunteers helped out over the five days. Thank you very much for your enthusiastic guidance even on rainy days and windy days.
