On the twenty-seventh of October, (a Sunday), an informational session concerning high school entrance for parents and children who are not native speakers of Japanese was held at the West Wing in Nakano Zero.  Parents and students from China, Germany, Nepal, and the Philippines, were in attendance. Information was provided in Easy Japanese and then, interpreted.

The information concerning the system of metropolitan high schools and covered high schools that has a special entrance for Tokyo’s foreign residents, accept returnee students from overseas and part-time high schools. Since students vary in terms of numbers of years of residence in Japan and Japanese-language proficiency, the preparation differs.  It was a useful opportunity to learn about the high school entrance examination in Japan ――not only for third-year students but also for those of the first and second years――many of whom attended.  Since they can make inquiries in their native language, many students’ guardians spoke. Many thanks go to the volunteer interpreters for their generous assistance.  These matters must be quite challenging for those whose Japanese-language skill is insufficient.  We intend to support them as much as possible.
