The Seminar For International Understanding: Let’s Learn About Nepal: Life & Culture OF A Multiethnic Society, was held at Nakano Zero on the first of February, a Friday. The seminar was taught by Mr. Gauchan Sarad Kumar, the director of the Nepal Association in Japan.  It was attended by approximately eighty participants.  At the opening, six of the junior high school girls from the Everest International School danced folk dances, wearing native costumes of Nepal.

There are 125 ethnic groups and each has its own language and culture. In  the mountainous lands near the Chinese border, the plains near the Indian border, and the hilly terrains in-between, the  features and family names of people differ.  Nepalese effectively know where other Nepalese originate even if they are meeting for the first time.  Not only was life in Nepal spoken of, he touched upon the trend of there being increasing numbers of Nepalese in Japan as well as their communities.  The audience asked pertinent questions, such as: “What kind of problems do they face, living in Japan? and “Is it difficult to learn Japanese”, —-evidence of strong interest.
