Jiansu China’s Homemade Cooking Class was held on Friday, November the thirtieth. Our guest host was Ms. You Chou(Cho Yo), who works as a volunteer at Nabeyoko International Café. The menu featured stewed pork  and vegetables in Chinese-style、vegetables with a Chinese dressing, a mountain potato soup, and a white jelly mushroom soup for dessert. Some participant said, pleasant surprised, that in terms of the ingredients used, the food was similar to the Japanese niku-jaga stew.  However, they concluded that it had turned out to be a completely Chinese dish, mainly due to the use of Chinese seasonings.  Others said that the food prepared possessed genuine homemade taste, rather than that of a restaurant, and wanted to make it at home soon.

The Jiangsu dish is one of eight particularly famous dishes in China. The teacher taught the benefits of the ingredients and seasonings in a way easy to understand.

We heard that Jiangsu is well-known as the birth place of Mr. Enlai Zhou(Shu Onrai), who lodged for a while in Nakano. We felt the tie between Jiangsu and dishes in China.
